Managing social media for ABC’s ‘Cougar Town’

by Aanarav Sareen on September 16, 2009

When I logged into my Facebook account this morning, I was invited to attend the premiere event for ABC’s Cougar Town.

I clicked on the invite to see what sort of information ABC was providing regarding the show and found a few things that could be improved upon.

1. In the description field, the last line about the show is “To check out Jules’ credentials, give her a ring at 1-877-527-5255.” If you call that number, an automated message indicates the number is not currently available. If it isn’t available, it shouldn’t have been provided.

2. In the comments, there was one individual who said “I will never, ever watch your vapid little show.” Given that this event is a promotional one, this comment should have been moderated and deleted.

The show also has a fan page, which is currently sparse. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of additions the network makes to the page.

If you manage a brand — given the amount of social platforms, is it even realistic to manage all platforms accurately?

For brand managers, a tool that manages multiple platforms via one interface would be a welcome addition.
